analysis of a opening film- Ghost Ship

As the movie starts, it does not reflect the horrific side of it, and this is because of the sound track used by the director in the begining. Everybody is happy and dancing, from the older people to the one little girl that have previllege on the screen and is probably the main actress.

As everyone was still dancing, the director uses and establing shot to show where the movie is set and in this case is a massive ship with lights all around. During this time slow tempored soundtrack is used by the director and it's more romantic and relaxing.

As the fun was building up and everyone was blown away, an anonymus man in the ship lifts a liver and at this time the audience have no idea what it is about. As the liver was up the director uses sound to warn the audience about the change and at this time the people dancing went into slow motion which shows that something dodgy was going to happen with out them having an idea/clue. From this time the director started using the slow motion edits and also blured the people, forcusing on the wire which was listed when the liver was lifted. As the rope got faster, the fun was building up and evetually with no notice the lights in other parts of the ship started being distroyed and some created sparks which are the once that triggered the people that something was happening. Beacuse the wire was too fast, they were all cut as soon as they saw it and some before they even saw it and only one person was left which is the little girl and no one knows how and why.

For a moment everyone froze and couldn't understand what had happened and the the director reviewed all the blood that had splashed. After a while one man in a black suits first realised that he was cut when the glass he was holding felt down. Poeple were falling, split into halfs and bleeding severly.

Everybody started falling and the girl little girl was shocked with what had happened and this is reflected by the close up that the director used. Some people were trying to get back up after they had been struck, but it was the wich of wrong because it was impossible. At this time the sound track had already changed and it was synchronising with the action and suited well in the film diegesis.

As soon as everyone was down, the little girl realised that the captain who was holding her was also cut and this time his head was split into two and he felt as well. The girl could not believe what had happened and she screemed and the director took us to the unknown as the scene disappers under water.
